The Mount Gilead (Union) Baptist Church presently meets in a former seven/eleven (type) food store building on West Sunrise Highway in the city of Freeport, Grand Bahama. The Grand Bahama Port Authority awarded them just under five acres of beautiful property on the West Sunrise Highway, just opposite the present site. The Mount Gilead Church proposes to build a multi-purpose building on the site in very short order. The building will be built in stages. The first stage will consist of a meeting area that will be able to accommodate 550 persons at a time. In addition, nine class rooms, bathrooms, offices etc. will also be in the proposed building. We intend to offer schooling and a minimum fee for those who can afford to pay, and scholarships will be made available for the less fortunate. The cost of the first stage of our building ministry is U.S. $600,000.00.
